Do you know what a djembe is? It's a drum. Djembe means, "everyone gather in peace" according to the Mande tribe in West Africa. The drum originated in Senegal. It is a rope-tuned, skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands. The drum has a shell of carved hardwood and a goatskin drumhead. Its diameter is roughly 13-14 inches and it can weigh from 11-20 pounds. This drum is a very loud percussion instrument and is traditionally only played by men.

From the design of the drum itself, the African culture can be seen. It's lovely.
