What’s the best way to discover new music? / myLot

How do you discover new music? We all seem to relate most to the music we grow up with. It's our favorite era, usually the year we were in high school and shortly thereafter. So how do we expose ourselves to newer music or different genres? I listen to Christian music in the car. I listen to Rap and Hip-Hop Music at the gym when I work out. I admittedly haven't had a lot of exposure to Country music or Opera music. But I'm going to try to expand my horizons and learn the newest pop artists and see what else I like. What’s the best way to discover new music?

Cousin #2 introduced me to Disturbed. They are a heavy metal group (which I don't like); but David Draiman's cover of Sound of Silence is amazing. I've listened to more of their music and found a couple of other songs that I like.

I haven't listened to regular radio in quite awhile. I love Spotify! I just listen to random stations.

I write about and listen to the music I have always liked and have not looked for anything new. Try Googling the latest top bands or singers. I'll start you off

The radio is still a good source for newer music no matter the genre. I don't have any interest in newer music myself, but streaming services like Spotify which I use can direct you to all kinds of music from any era. I Heart is another ap I use.
