Len Deighton, Spy Novelist and Creator of "Anti-Bond" died recently at an age of 97. While Ian Fleming gave us tuxedos and martinis, Len Deighton introduced the "Anti-Bond." His unnamed protagonist—later known as Harry Palmer—is a working-class operative who navigates bureaucracy and grocery bills rather than high-stakes baccarat(aka James Bond). Deighton’s 1962 debut, "The IPCRESS File", stripped the glamour from espionage, replacing it with cynical realism and clinical detail. By focusing on the drudgery of intelligence work, Deighton proved that a spy’s kitchen is just as dangerous as a villain’s lair. Based on news in Hindustan Times. Image : Taken from the newspaper

I didn't know he'd passed away. We have several of his books in our library.

@JudyEv I came to know of this legend only recently after reading the news. I think I might try to watch "The IPCRESS File" some day.
