Tiger Woods pled not guilty to DUI and then announced he is going to seek treatment

Um. . . what? He crashed his Land Rover SUV into another truck on Friday at a speed which caused his SUV to roll over on top of the other car. He appeared impaired and failed several field sobriety tests at the scene of the crash. They gave him a breathalyzer and it was 0.0%. He did refuse to provide a urine sample, however, so he was arrested for DUI with property damage and refusing a lawful test. Okay I get the legal strategy. But today he released a statement saying: "I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.” So he says he is seeking treatment and working toward lasting recovery. That seems at odds with the not-guilty plea. I mean I'm not knocking him for seeking treatment for his apparent opiate issues (he had a bottle of one type in his pocket during the crash) but the announcement seems to be an implicit admission that he was in fact under the influence of something. That is pretty obvious if you look at his mug shot. What do you guys think about those 2 takes on the whole thing side-by-side?

And he demands a trial. I guess he’s thinking the jury will be so enamored with him that he’ll get off. I hope he gets help. We’ve lost enough stars to prescription overdoses.

So he is a well heeled rich junkie basically. This was on the news here within about 10 minutes of it happening I think that goes down as a double bogey on his score card
