He beats her often and she refuses to leave

I have this friend who is married with a 5 year old daughter. Her husband beats her at any slightest provocation and then will send her out of the house not caring where she sleeps. After a few days, you will see them back together again .
The last fight I experienced was really bad . The guy almost killed her . It took the intervention of the neighbors to free the lady from him. I thought the lady would leave for a couple of months so that the man would learn but nah, they were back together after a few days.
When I saw her, I promised myself that I will never intervene in their fight again because I knew it would surely happen. Alas, three days ago, the guy almost stripped her naked. It took the efforts of the neighbors to stop him. Now, the lady is gone. I heard neighbors discussing it ..I just turned a deaf ear and pretended not to know what happened.
I guess some people never learn and if their is a pattern of violence, you should take your shoes and run. If you keep coming back to that same person that abuses you, then it's your problem not mine

It is a shame that a man beats his wife in such a way that he nearly kills her,

It's even worse that people like our poster here no about it, hear it, see it and do not report it

If you see that happening or hear of that happening you should phone the police and report the man.
Why have you not done that?

Eventually, their fights will escalate to him killing her. Instead of the neighbors stepping in, maybe one of you should call the police the next time it happens.

If your spouse start beating you right from the first day, don't stay in that house again or think the man would change. That's is that person real character.

There's a lot more to why women return to abusive men (and men return to abusive women). It's a complex psychological situation involving fear and low self-esteem.
