Can the long-forgotten barter system ever make a comeback?

We know that money is the fuel of the world in a way. Without it, nothing will run in the world. Money is the factor that has contributed to crises and debacles worldwide.
Why can't heads of governments sit down and welcome the barter system? The barter system required receipt of goods or services in return for offering goods or services. I think poverty can be eradicated with barter mechanism.
Keep your opinions flowing. Technology and science do not have to be dispensed with. The world will not go back in time as a consequence of gravitating towards the once-so-popular barter system of commerce.

I would love there to be more bartering going on but I fear it can not happen with big companies ....smaller companies and certainly individuals can do this easily though. As long as you find someone to barter with and you can agree in terms ....amount of products, how often etc it could work really well.

The barter system is great if you can find someone to barter with. That's the hard part.
Some time ago, I met a lady who had a lot of chickens. It started out that I was just going to buy fresh eggs from her. But after the first time we met, we hit it off as friends and the friendship grew. She wouldn't take my money for the eggs, so I started making her something to eat. She has a lot of talents, but not much free time and hates to cook. So we swap, eggs for baked goods or maybe homemade soup or whatever. She loves it, and so do I. And we both have a wonderful friend in each other--she has been so nice to visit with my son as well.
