Why do people tend to sleep when there is nothing to do?

This question has crossed my mind many times. Human beings love comfort and so, we look to sleep when there is no work for us to engage in. But, staying active is essential for fitness and health. Obesity, diabetes, sugar, etc. are there to strike us hard if we think about comfort all the time. That's why, gyms are immeasurably common in this day and age. Even, teenagers are forging sound relationships with gyms. This new generation is all against indolence and stagnation. However, the balance between work and rest must be maintained with caution and prudence.

I know my parents (my mother is now deceased) always opted for a nap when there was nothing to do because they were always on the go. I don’t believe they ever got enough sleep so they took it where they could get it.

when people are depressed or worried, they tend to stay in bed more.
