Zen story: The feather ruffling Zen master

The old Zen master, Enrico Zerboski, had become different in his teachings to other Zen masters, over the many years, while he had been the head master, at the Ryoko monastery.
He would often debunk many of the long held beliefs of other Zen masters.
They would say that the present moment is everything, and yet, nothing is permanent.
He would counter this by saying the present moment is nothing, but impermanence, of itself.
The world lives as itself from moment to moment, and so the present moment is fleeting, and a figment of imagination, being held by your mind only, because in truth, all marches incessantly on, and there is no moment, that could ever be said to be the present moment in reality, or in creation.
The soul, though, is actually separate from creation, as God is too, and so there is a self separate from the World.
The world is a mere tool of God, and our of soul, and we are always separate from it, but we can become immersed in it, sometimes too deeply, so that we lose contact with our real soul self then.
When we let go of our attachment to the world, we see then our attachment to God. We need to value this attachment to God, as it gives us soul life, independently from him, but paradoxically, still remaining part of him too.
Awareness, and enlightenment, are not necessary to the mind, as our soul is always aware, even without its mind. Stop chasing after stuff with your mind, and be who you really are, a soul self.
And so, the old Zen master brought a gust of fresh thinking to the old staidness of entrenched Zen beliefs.
Sure, he ruffled a few feathers, but his own feathers remained on his own bird of paradise, as he did so.

The old Zen master was a beacon of light, to all who came into contact with him.

This is a fiction piece, as I like to write up some short stories here, so you are unlikely to find him on the internet, as I invented his name.

That should apply to our beliefs too.
Nothing is cast in iron. Though history repeats especially in the way we fight against and kill each other but learn nothing of the end result. The truth is we are from the same source and disappear too the same way.
We need to have our own pursuit of the truth based on our inner awareness and experiences from this world. Lapping up whatever is passed on will hardly do justice to our potential.
We need Zen masters and others like him who might strike the right cord for us to find the key to a peaceful world. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is Insanity as Einstein remarked.

"Just as a torch can light countless other torches without diminishing its own flame, so too, can the giving of wisdom, truth, and virtue, benefit many, without depleting the giver."
Zen Buddhism saying.
Yes, we are all from the same source, and made from the same substance, but some are ready to know how to shine their own torch brighter than others, and they can even help others to brighten their torches too, which Zen masters endeavour to do.

@Shiva49 Yes, we need to grow our seed of wisdom, and truth, in us, instead of just leaving it on God's shelf. Connecting to God allows such growth as his love is what makes both truth, and wisdom, grow in us, plus the use of a good fertiliser, provided by an aware, and consciously connected mind, too.

@innertalks We need such masters to make us stay rooted to what we are here for.
Too much of attachment to worldly sights and pleasures will lead us the wrong path as they are transient in nature.
We should never lose sight of the bigger picture that our sojourn here is just a pit stop, part of a permanent journey inspired by our creator who never loses sight of us.
All are on total recall. We have to show something positive by doing justice to our inherent talents and potential.
