Oops, both songs today have parenthetical titles. That wasn’t intentional (I didn’t mean it).
Way back in 1966 the only thing I listened to was country music. It probably won’t surprise you, therefore, that there are a few country songs on the list of songs that are now 50 years old. It’s a Country Music Hall of Fame day as we look at this song from 1966.
Nobody But a Fool (Would Love You) - Connie Smith
Connie Smith is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. The song’s writer, Bill Anderson, is also in. Oh, and Connie’s husband, Marty Stuart, is also a Hall of Famer. (Pig Robbins, on piano, and Jerry Reed, on guitar, are also Hall of Famers. Weldon Myrick, the steel player, is in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.). The funny thing about all of that: Marty Stuart was all of eight years old when this song was a hit.
Connie Smith is largely forgotten outside of the traditional country music circles these days. It’s one of the reasons I say that Patsy Cline probably wouldn’t be known if she had lived: most of the female country singers with long careers (and Smith, now 84, still performs on the Grand Ole Opry and Stuart’s RFD-TV show) fell by the wayside.
I love her music. I always have, and I always will.

Loving you with all of her might:

We didn't guess it correctly but we liked the song. Hubby knew this artist. I did not.
