Should you take photos in a theatre ?

I have just watched an interview with an actress who was saying that she has just been working in Broadway and at the end of the performance lots of members of the audience got their phones out and started taking photographs. She was strongly against this, wanting the audience to watch and remember only. This doesn't really happen in the UK. It happens at music concerts but you can take photos and record ....at most venues . But that is a different sort of show. I wondered what your thoughts were ... Do you think it's okay to take photos at the end of a theatre performance ?

@traceyjayne I don’t like this vulgar habit of photographing everything. It’s intrusive and ought to be discouraged. What do people do with all these photos?

I guess they keep the photos as memories. I have been to concerts and taken photos but never at a theatre at the end of a production....but , when I think about it .....why not ! How is it intrusive if all the cast of a production are on stage taking a bow and you take a photo ? Generally, do they even notice ! You aren't asking them to pose for you or wanting to be on stage taking selfies with them.

I don’t think that is custom here, to take pictures like that. I imagine if they did that on Broadway you might get banned. Personally, I don’t think it is a big deal. The patrons probably paid through the nose to see it, and they can’t take a picture at the end? It’s not like they interrupted the performance.

I don't see much wrong with it if it is at the end of the show.

If the performance is over and the actors are taking their bows, I think it's OK.

Depends with the policies guiding the theatre. I would not recommend you to do anything that goes against the policies lest you land yourself in trouble

People are always gonna take photos of the celebrities they like..their is nothing one can do about it. I don't like it but that won't make it stop
