Yesterday was messed up for me. My ex flaked on me. I called her to ask why she didn't show up for our date and she said she got busy at work.
Also, I put a call through to a friend who just got thrown out by her hubby. It was a brief call just to check up on her. I told her "I'm here if you need anything" and I got what I didn't bargain for. As soon as I dropped that line, she started talking about her financial problems..Damn girl..I was only talking about emotional support not financial support. Anyway, I sent her some money and I hate it. I didn't respond to her thank you message yesternite. She sent another one this morning and I didn't respond..why, my response will open another door for asking.
I don't wanna be anyone's ATM machine. I'm just gonna go silent on both of them...for my peace of mind I guess

Yep, that was a mistake on your part (I don't mean that badly or personally, just that I can see you regret it) You have to be careful what you say because some people will take advantage of it. Do you think you'll ever see that money again?

@Wrexxo We have learned that we have to be careful what we tell my mother-in-law. Well, this was before her dementia. But if we say, "Don't worry, we'll take care of you" she thinks it means we'll buy her anything and everything she wants and financially support her. We actually meant we'd make sure she had a roof over her head and didn't starve.

@LooeyVille i guess we learn everyday. We should just be careful of the words that slip out of our mouth.

That's probably best on both accounts. Nobody can support extra people in today's economy.
I have to be careful because I say things like that all the time. Nobody has asked me for monetary help but I stopped telling people to let me know if they need anything. I can't afford to help anyone with money right now.

Just now
That wasn’t kind of either of them, but I really hope you don’t feel obligated to give that one lady any more money. That is not your responsibility. I’ve been there. I’ve even had a Mylotter ask me for money. It’s not right for someone to take advantage of your kind heart.

Yeah, that the right thing to do.
I guess you should just forget about them.
