One of my friend's 19 year old son is physically handicapped by birth. He can't walk by himself. His father, who is a lawyer, has appointed a man to help him. The boy can't even eat by himself. From evening to night he keeps seated in a wheelchair. The helper pulls the wheelchair and takes the boy everywhere. But the handicapped boy has avery strong mental strength.and eagerness to know everything he sees or comes across. . You can feel the pain of a father whose intelligent son is physically handicapped. But mentally the boy is very smart and eager to know whatever he sees.Once he asked me a question about an ancient Hindu king. I told him about the king in detail. He requested his sister to write it all . And as if it is not enough, the lawyer has a mentally retarded wife. My neighbour is in great stress. He doesn't know who will look after his wife and son after him. He had a heart problem. Recently he had undergone a open heart surgery Still I see him laughing or smiling . I often think about my neighbour. There are people among us who can laugh and be polite and soft spoken in great stress. What do you think about the man?? Is he fortunate or unlucky or, say, unfortunate??

I think that God gifted a person a son with disability because God know that the person has the capacity to take care of the son.

He is taking care of his son, but is worried what will happen after he is gone. Once he has told my father that he has left everything on God.

I can understand your pain, my friend. Have courage. Time changes. The time when you were a student is gone. This time also will slowly pass away. I'm so glad to know your parents stood by you. They are great parents. I highly appreciate them. I hope you are now happy with your life. The boy I'm talking about is handicapped. His father is now alive, but he has a heart problem. He is afraid that who will look after his son after him. Have a nice time, my friend. I'm glad you responded to the post. Tons of thanks, my friend.

In America, it is no longer good to use the word “retarded”. We say mentally handicapped or mentally challenged. I feel sorry for this man you speak of, but are there other relatives that will aid his son and wife if anything happen to him? I certainly hope so. My nephew (he is adopted) is mentally challenged. My sister and BIL put away enough money for their other children to take care of him if something happens to them. If their other children are not of age when they die, they lined up one of our cousins to take him in and care for him.

Thank you. Your sister and BIL are good persons. They are trying to look after the boy. I don't know if my neighbour's son is that fortunate. I don't know my neighbour's relatives. The boy's sister lives her brother, but she is too young and therefore unmarried. She's just 7 now. So far the boy's uncles are concerned, I don't think they would gladly adopt a handicapped boy and look after him.

Children are gift from God, I think God knows why he gave him that son. I can't really tell if it's fortunate or unfortunate.

life isn't easy for many people. i wish he could look at some postive sides and that's that someone can take care of his son; some parents don't have enough money and they taje care for their kids themselves.
