Importunity

I learned a new word today - IMPORTUNITY I found it in the bible, in Luke 11:8, which reads, in the King James Version, as follows: "I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth." So then what on earth does importunity mean? Per Merriam Webster Dictionary online, it is persistence to the point of annoyance. Synonyms would include persistence and insistence. Did you learn a new word with this today or did you already know this one?

@looeyville Well this smarty-pants knew it and has used it. Correctly I hope. I shall now absquatulate and get the house tidied before my wife gets home.

I feel like I heard it, possibly through the Bible, but in no way did I know the meaning.

I already knew the word but thank you for reminding me about it. It's not a word I'd use in everyday life.
