Do any of you take allergy shots?
Two years ago this month I started taking allergy shots.
I thought it was stupid. I thought it was a scam. I didn't believe in it.
At first I had to take them three days a week for year. Then the second year I took them one day a week for a year. Now I've graduated to once every two weeks.
In reflecting upon these two years I realize they've made a tremendous difference in my quality of life. Fewer headaches. Less time feeling "icky" Less time sniffling and feeling sick.
So yes, I've changed my mind about the validity of getting allergy shots.

I'm looking for that kind of shots here in my country. I will ask some doctors if we have it in my country.
The last that I know, before injecting shots like that or even giving prescription, the doctors have to test what kind of allergies do you have and for that they have to prick 20 times on one's arm. Oh boy, that surely hurts. That was expensive, I think allergy shots will be more expensive here too.

Yes the allergy testing consists of a bunch of needles pricking your arm or back to test for specific allergies like grass or mold or cats, etc. My health insurance paid for that. The shots for me are $11 each after insurance pays their part.

I guess they exist for a reason. I wouldn't know, I don't think I am allergic to anything of note..maybe some minor ones.

I didn't think I had seasonal allergies either. I just knew that every time I got back in my city from a trip somewhere outside of my city I would get sick.

I've been off of allergy shots for about five years now, so I'll probably start getting sick enough to start them back up.

It is good that they are working, and that you have seen it through, going so often that first year must have been an inconvenience, but you must have realized that it was working at some point.
I have very slight allergies, and do not need shots for them.

I'm glad they've really helped with your allergies. I haven't had any allergy shots but occasionally I have to take an OTC medication if my allergies flare up. Usually they work fine
