Heard Something Amazing

Much to my relief, I was able to go to church this morning. I picked a great service to feel up to attending. Two of the ladies involved in the prison ministry (some of our ladies volunteer at) got up to speak. To give you a brief, there is a nondenominational prison ministry (it’s nation wide & recently one event was held in Kenya) that takes women from churches, trains them, and then brings them to prisons to share God’s love. It’s a 3 1/2 day event about 3 times a year. Anyway, this happened at a maximum security prison about 45 minutes from me. They had all the inmates in the gym at different tables (seating chosen randomly). One lady said she refused to sit at the same table as “Jane”. When asked why she said Jane had killed her pregnant sister. Obviously, they switched the seatings. That was Friday morning. After Bible study and prayerful meditation for all who participated , the two women went to talk to the chaplain the following morning. By Sunday afternoon, when they asked if anyone wanted to share the woman got up, said she had been forgiven by Jesus, and if Jesus forgave her, then she could forgive Jane. The woman then embraced Jane as Jane sobbed. Now, that was a quick explanation to a more lengthy occurrence. And I know some of you reading this will put your skeptical hat on and say something sarcastic. But I’m thankful someone was reached. People forget about these people; I know I do. But God moves in all walks of life. He can and will work in ours too.

So, did Jane kill her own sister, or the other woman's sister?

Forgiveness is also quite healing, so it is good that they could reconcile. Still, it is unfortunate that the woman did kill her sister. I never can understand why someone would take someone else's life.

It's hard to forgive someone that killed your pregnant sister but we just have to.. forgiveness is for us not for them

It’s hard for us to remember how much we’ve been forgiven. That’s a wonderful story, and not one I’m sure I could do if I were in the lady's shoes.

Just now
That's great that you got to church. Holding on to anger really only damages ourselves.
