Ranting Over a Singing Contest

This morning, I got some messages from a friend of mine. He was ranting because he failed to enter the final in a singing contest virtually. I also attended it and thought that he can make it. It seems like the judges are not in favor of his performance. I just said to let it go because we cannot hold the minds of these judges. However, he keeps on whining and cannot accept the result of this competition. I am giving him time to process this matter.
Can you let go of certain things easily?

It depends on how much I care about something. If I really care about it, then no, I have trouble letting things go. If it doesn't really matter to me, then yes, I can let it go easily.
Just turn your phone off until tomorrow. If he still wants to talk about it tomorrow, then listen, tell him you're sorry and see if that helps him let go.

I also think that he had prepared and gave his all with this singing contest. So, it means it is not easy to let go. In contrast, I usually do not dwell on certain situations. One of the reasons it is done, and nothing I can do about it. During my younger years, I must admit that I was a whiny soul. I changed through the years of existence.

@Shavkat I can still feel put-out about certain things but I rarely whine about it anymore. I'm too old to dwell on things that upset me anymore.

@DaddyEvil I also have the same feeling. I cannot take things seriously if they were not meant to be. It will just consume my energy, and I do not want to stress myself with those things anymore.

Depends what it is
One of my neighbours said I couldn't sing
So when his car broke down I asked him if he would reconsider his opinion of my vocal talents
He said no,
So I left him stranded

Oh no
Playing along would not do
He would have to go public and confirm that I am a good singer

Some things are really hard to let go, but singing contests are so difficult to make your mark that I’m kind of surprised anyone expects to really win those things. So many people seem to enter them! It feels like you need pure luck to break through to judges.

I agree with you. Some judges do not usually tend to be objective. They take sides with those people who are close to them in this kind of situation. When I entered the livestream, I saw that viewers were into my friend's performance, but the judges did not see him through.

I can let go of some things, especially when I know I’ve done my best and the outcome is out of my control. But it’s not always immediate—it takes a bit of time to process first.
In your friend’s case, it sounds like he’s still trying to come to terms with it, which is normal.
Do you think he’s more upset about the result itself or how the judges evaluated him?

In my view, he thinks that these judges gave low scores, and it was not justifiable as compared to the other singers' performances. I also thought the same mindset when I heard the other singers at that time. As of today, he came to realize that he cannot do anything about it and move on to the next singing contest in the future.

Online? Are they doing that now? That's so cool.
I think if you really love it and want it so badly, you'll get more hungry about it.

It seems that he just needs to play along and have a free ride.
