A healthy woman died at a Swiss assisted suicide clinic today

She was a 56 year old British woman who was healthy but heartbroken after the choking death of her 23 year old son 4 years ago. He was her only son. She tried to commit suicide 9 months later but survived and was on a ventilator for a couple of weeks. She chose to go to the clinic in Switzerland to have an assisted suicide rather than attempt it on her own again. She did not have help preparing or getting to the airport because anyone in England who was part of it could have been prosecuted. Today she was part of what the clinic called a "sane suicide". The founder of the clinic, Pegasos, stated: "I can also confirm that neither we nor any of the professional staff assessing her mental capacity had any doubt as to her intention, understanding, and independence of both thought and action." In an interview prior to her death the woman, Wendy Duffy, stated that she would be wearing one of her son's shirts because it still smelled like him and that the song "Die With a Smile" by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga will be playing. She also asked that the windows to the room be open so her spirit could be "free". I really don't know what I think about this situation. I've read of others that have been similar. It is one thing when an individual has a terminal condition and terrible quality of life. That seems at least somewhat understandable. It is harder for me to wrap my mind around when it is someone who is perfectly physically healthy. There also was another recent case of a Spanish woman who had euthanasia being raped repeatedly. What do you think about assisted suicide? Does it really make a difference if the individual is terminally ill or not?

I think it's perfectly fair to assume that there are perfectly healthy people who do not want to continue living. And ai think this woman did what she felt was right for her. Hats off to her

That is a good question since there are help lines for persons who want to end their lives by themselves that are prevented since the advice from the operator is "You are stronger than you think." Or "You are going through a storm and think about your loved ones missing you when you are gone."
