It's Kentucky Derby Time in Louisville, KY, which brings probably a million visitors from all over the country and around the world.
Today is called "Thurby" which is Thursday before Derby.
It used to be that us locals went to Churchill Downs for the races on Friday, which is Oaks, and the tourists went to the Derby on Saturday. Then the tourists started taking over the Oaks race, so we locals backed up to Thurby. Then the tourists started showing up for Thursday, so then the locals started going on Wednesday, which they call Champions Day or Winsday. Nope, tourists got in on that too. So the only "local" day we really have is Tuesday, which they call 502sday because our area code here is 502.
Anyway, I digress.
Today was PERFECT weather for Thurby and here is a photo of some of the beautiful hats the women were wearing. It's all about the hats at the horse race track.

Ladies certainly go all out with their hats when they go to the races. I'd prefer to spend my time somewhere near the horses!
But that's just me.

I have noticed that the fans of the Kentucky Derby are known for wearing hats at the race track..
