I watched Crime and Punishment. This version was made in 2002. I watched it on Tubi. It has Crispin Glover, Vanessa Redgrave, John Hurt, Margot Kidder, Sophie Ward, Patricia Hayes, Richard Lynch, John Neville, Connie Hair in it. Big Warning: there is some violence. Spoiler below. This version does go by the book, but I still haven't finished listening to the book. I am on part 16 now. In this version Rodion Raskolnikov does kill the pawnbroker and her daughter. He does kill them with the ax. But the ax was in a room with a baby in it and the axe was on the wall. In the book, he gets the axe from the broiler room. In this version, Rodion's mother and sister has a dinner with Rodion and Luzhin. But the dinner goes awry because it is revealed that Luzhin was to pay Rodion's mother when his sister and Luzhin gets married. In this version Luzhin is a software guy who is very rich. He also is using Sonia's services (you know what I mean). In this version, Sonia wants to go to the prison that Rodion has to go to. She does and gets a job as a nurse. She heals him back to life when he gets sick in prison and she is there when he gets out. I liked this version especially the end. I think the end was a perfect ending. I'm watching next Fear. It's another version I just found. It's made in 1946.
