So, I saw the show a few days ago, and one of the episodes featured a woman who had been attacked by a coyote. Coyote attacks on people are quite rare, but they do happen. This one was relentless, and she was lucky to get out of there alive. She even had to climb a barb wire fence or two in her escape. She had been out taking pictures on a lovely, warm day when this coyote came out of nowhere, and tried to kill her. She needed a huge number of stitches. It turns out as it was killed by authorities, that it was rabid. When a bear was spotted in this development a time or two, I was doing my steps with a walking stick..better than nothing!

That makes me not want to go to any national parks.

Very rare for something to happen there..especially in the East. Yellowstone has a bit of a problem due to stupid tourists

Maybe, but there are specific bear sprays people use. I just think the likelihood of something happening are slim to none. Unlike another development I know about, I don't think there are any bears in residence here. They might just pass through from time to time. I am pretty sure I saw a track the winter before last though, and I swear I heard one one night a few years ago. I told somebody about it they said it could have been a deer in rut too..they make strange noises apparently..I didn't hang around to find out!
