Wondering about this picture

My mother bought this painting down in Columbia, SA. When she passed away, my aunt let me have the picture. My Mom had it from the time I was around 15, atleast that was the first time I ever saw it. It always captured my attention wondering what she is doing. It is painted on wood, so I know it is very old. Would love to find out more about it. It is signed, but I can not figure out what it says. Wondering if the person who painted it has any more paintings like it. For now she is just my Mystery Lady.
