How do you feel about donating blood to someone? It can be to your family or randomly at the hospital or with the red cross? I have only donated blood once in my life but haven't had the need to do it again. But I wouldn't mind donating my blood to any of my immediate family members.

No. I have never had the need to donate blood. But I'm ready to donate, if it is needed.

I wanted to donate blood to my sister that just gave birth but our blood didn't match so her husband had to buy some pounds of blood for her.

@augusta123 Oh yes, once I wanted to donate blood to my friend, but couldn't, because our blood groups didn't match.

I have donated blood. I think it is a good thing and socially proactive.

I used to. Too old and too sick (medical issues, not terrible things but things that won’t let me donate) now.

I have been a blood donor all of my adult life. I first gave blood when I was like 16 or 17, and have been giving ever since. I don't mind needles, so it doesn't bother me to donate; plus, I know I'm helping save lives.

I wish I could. I applied to be a blood donor, but I was turned down because I also have a mild heart condition. Too much risk, at least in the minds of whoever makes these decisions at the blood donation service.
The sad irony is, I also suffer from a condition called haemochromatosis. It's a genetic condition that causes my body to store too much iron. The way that's managed is that I have to go to hospital to get blood drawn from time to time - usually about a litre. And then my body uses up some of the excess iron to make replacement blood. It's almost exactly the same process as giving blood, but it gets thrown away instead of being donated. Nothing I can do about that, but it's frustrating - with the amount of blood I've had taken out of me over the last few years, I probably could have saved a bus load of people by now.

I'm sorry to hear about your condition.
That's really sad.
Instead of using the blood to save people lives it's being thrown away.
Really sad.
Is the a cure for it?

Good you are willing to.
Some people don't like donating their blood.
