Way to dry.

Despite it being spring, we have not had enough rain. Today George and I took an unplanned impromptu drive. We went through a new subdevision with a mix of empty lots, houses under construction and fully completed homes. During our rounds, I could not only see, but smell smoke. No flames, so safe to say the fire itself was contained or far enough away from civiliation.
I had a lot of fun. George enjoyed it too. He wanted to get out of the house for a few hours, and we did.

we’re at burning ban for week. The adjacent county lifted theirs over the weekend. But I haven’t seen anything about our county lifting.

@thislittlepennyearns Yeah, I know if what you mean. Our house is srounded by other houses in a neighborhood, so someone would know and might complain if we dare try, but we didn't. As for rain, didn't exactly happen.

@kaylachan Thats true. We have kids who like smores and campfires.
Although were on 400 acres. So really as long we we kept a hose nearby and kept an eye on them. No one would really would have any clue if we were burning on private land or not.
But the burn ban was lifted today. Not that it would matter again, because it's rained since Thursday and is still raining off and on still. So you couldn't burn even if you wanted ro.

I wish it would rain here. We got a little but that was weeks ago. It's going to be hot and dry again and fires all around. I get so tired of it. Sometimes they come much too close.
I envy you your drive. I have wanted to see how the new bridge in South Boise looks. It was redone and widened nearly ten years ago, and I still haven't made it over there to see it. It's rough when you don't drive.

Agree, although we've had it a lot worse. One year George said the smoke was so bad the traffic lights were changing colors, the Coke zero four hundred, whatever it was called back then, was canceled, and people were wearing gas masks, but still decided to smoke in their cars like nothing was happening. I didn't live here at the time, but hearing the storries make me glad what we saw the other day was nothing.

Kind of, but not exactly. I can only see so far, and I have a general idea of where it's coming from, but... yeah. I don't know. we were far enough neither George or I saw flames, but based on the smell some woods aren't doing so well.
