Community bus that takes you shopping.....i think it's a great idea

So, I recently found out that if you are over 60 there is a community bus that will pick you up at your house, take you to the supermarket, wait for you, bring you home and the driver even carries your bags to the door.
All that, for just £1
I think it's a great idea as it gets people out of the house and gives elderly some independence.
Also you can't get your shopping delivered for £1 anywhere, so this is a really good deal as far as I can see.
The bus goes to different supermarkets on different days.
What do you think of this idea ?
Is there anything like this in your area ?

For supermarkets? No, I don’t think that is a common thing here, although I’m sure some innovative places in the country have them. But also, I don’t have need of that service which may be why I don’t know if anything like that exists. I know drivers and buses will take you to medical appointments for free, but not supermarkets.

I wonder if there is a similar system for medical appointments here .....I could have made fantastic use of that last year when I was at the hospital every week !

We have things like that here..It is less than a dollar actually. It takes people to medical appointments too. With the cost of gas, I bet that service is booming, because some people have to go to Charlottesville for treatment, and that is close to an hour from here.

@snowy. That's good to hear. It's great that they take people to medical appointments too. Very useful service if you don't drive or are elderly or on your own.

This is a wonderful idea. I'm not sure we have it here. I think some bigger retirement villages might have something similar.
