A few days ago we spent the afternoon exploring the Duchesse Anne chateau in Nantes, a grand affair by all accounts.
What tickled my fancy more than all the finery however were the Ouessant sheep which are used to keep the moat garden surrounding the castle nicely trimmed.
Ouessant sheep, originating on the island of Ouessant off the coast of Brittany, are the world’s smallest naturally occurring breed of sheep. Small flocks of them are used to graze public land in France, and they make great pets.
I’ve seen them in a petting zoo (establishments of which I cannot bring myself to approve) in Donegal and they’re quite friendly.
I do like Ouessant sheep. What’s your favourite breed?

@looeyville All the cats in Bayeux have just been named by my wife. I’ll be checking her luggage before we return home.
