One year has passed since....

I just realized it’s been a year since my wife and I took that unforgettable trip to the US, exploring California, Nevada, and Arizona. We wandered through San Francisco, San Diego, Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas, to name a few. It was our special treat to ourselves after deciding to retire. I miss those moments, and now I spend most of my days at home, resting and enjoying retired life. Those memories still come back to me, as vivid.

I sure miss the days when my relatives and myself would take a cargo ship ride from Cristobal Panama to New Orleans to visit relatives in New York City until 1978 when my family moved to Metairie Louisiana to make it our home after my dad retired from working in Panama in the transportation industry.

Being a tourist brings a unique feeling, as everything seems new and full of wonder in a strange land with beautiful sights to take in. Now, spending most of my days at home, it feels even more special to look back on those moments when I ventured into a foreign place to explore and enjoy. It’s nice to know you’ve settled there and can experience the place with even greater ease now.

Yes, that was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I really enjoyed those adventures, and while they were a bit exhausting with all the walking around, the beauty and charm of the place made it completely worth it.

@jstory07 I still am looking for a repeat of those times but I think I need to find the most suitable time for that.

True, and since this month marks exactly one year since I last visited, it brings back so many nostalgic moments to remember.

I'm sure that was a wonderful trip for you both. Being retired is just the best.

It truly was, and I’m still looking forward to traveling to those places again someday. But for now, with all the issues surrounding oil, power, and so much more, I think it’s best to stay put rather than travel in the middle of all this.

@JudyEv Even my sister, who is in the US, had been planning to go home this September, but she has now decided to stay there and just spend her vacation somewhere nearby instead.

@rsa101 I agree. I wouldn't want to be going too far from home at the moment.
