Several years ago the district focused on "wellness" during our professional development days. It was some of the best PD I've had in all of my years--nutrition counseling, yoga sessions, a trial of acupuncture, chair massages, etc. I was interested in having acupuncture after that but never got around to it. . . until my 2 month stay at a facility recently. Maybe one day I will write in more depth about it and/or identify it but my mother and ex have described it as a "spa" while their web site calls it a luxury rehab. I don't know what a typical experience at such a facility is like. I can say that it was tough to be away from my life and cats for all of that time but I did like the place. It wasn't torture. They are very focused on wellness, health, holistic therapies, etc. I wouldn't have necessarily described myself as included in that category before staying there. It served all organic food, fresh juice blends, and mostly sugar-free stuff. Each week there were opportunities for massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, tai chi, and even things like drum circles and a ropes course. I went to acupuncture 2x/week. It was dark, there was soothing music, there was aromatherapy, there were zero-gravity chairs and blankets, etc. The sessions were only like 30 minutes with anywhere between 3 to 11 needles. I can't say that I felt some amazing response after the sessions but I figured they couldn't hurt. So the district wellness clinic is now offering acupuncture a couple of times per week. I *think* the sessions are like an hour and definitely include more than a handful of the tiny needles. I'm trying it tomorrow after work. There is no copay so I'm willing to check out a more thorough experience. I've had a neck and headache for like a week straight now so I'm hoping that it will help. Can't hurt. (no it doesn't hurt)

It didn’t help me that I noticed, but it certainly didn’t hurt. I’m glad I tried it. It’s good to hear you are going.
