The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Air Station Ventura California answered an emergency call on Friday to rescue a 67 year old man who was stranded off of Santa Rosa island in California after his boat was shipwrecked after his boat hit a rock.
The stranded man used flares and a SOS signal to ask for help on Saturday when the USCG sent a helicopter to Santa Rosa Island to rescue the man who did not suffer any injuries after he was rescued.
The island can only be reached by boat. Firefighters in California were battling a fire that started on fire when the USCG rescued the stranded man from the island.
Due to the fire in the island, the island is closed. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the authorities.
