I became a DoorDasher

I struggled hard to find another job that pays well enough for me to pay all of my bills and for me to take care of all of my animals. My current job where I work as a cashier is only giving me about one day a week at five hour shifts, though I have told them I can work more days and hours.
I applied to many different places to no luck at all, and sadly I can't do manufacturing jobs being highly asthmatic, so places like CorpTemps and others like it, are out of the question.
In desperation I turned to DoorDash. In just three days I've earned $168.92. I've learned quite a bit from this job, and one of those things are is that sometimes I'll wait for an hour or more before I get an offer for an order to accept and deliver. I sit in hotspot areas when I can and today I took a book with me while waiting for orders.
Sometimes, the orders are late. This is usually because the order hasn't been prepared when I arrive at the restaurant and I'm forced to wait longer than expected. Communication with the customer is key and I keep them informed of what's going on.
Right now, I'm at 29 deliveries. For more seasoned Door Dashers, this is nothing, but for me, this is a good start. I hope it keeps going well and even beyond that, because having the money to pay my bills and take care of my animals means a lot to me.

It really is, and it's stressful when have a expensive bills to pay. Thankfully I've gotten more hours at work by working at another store of the company I was hired at, so I'm working at two different locations, and DoorDashing on top of that.

Thank you! It'll take some time, but hopefully it works out the way I need it to.
