What’s the point of Siri?

I ask Siri for the weather. First, it tells me to unlock my phone. After I do that, it tells me I have to turn on my location services. I don’t get it. I should not need to unlock my phone for her to tell me the weather. It’s not personal information she’s accessing. And if I go directly into the app and it tells me the weather, why does she need my location services to be turned on for her to tell me the weather? The whole point of asking Siri something is so I don’t have to touch my phone to get the information I need. Using her defeats the purpose if I have to unlock my phone and/or do anything else to get what I asked for.

Correct on all points Lena Easier just using the weather app I wouldn't be turning location devices on either

Let’s say my hands are dirty from cooking and I want to know the weather. I like the idea of being able to ask about it without having to touch my phone. But if I still have to touch my phone, there’s no point of asking Siri.

@Ineeddentures I went into my phone and my Weather app and looked at it. With the arrival of Siri, I should not have to do that anymore.

@lovebuglena Stop and wash your hands Lena. What did you do prior to Siri when you wanted to know the weather

I agree with you. This is why some AI needs to be improved. I remember long time ago when I bought Amazon Echo Dot 2 which is a smart speaker, it could answer me directly. It's more like "personal service"

I can understand the location services. To get personalized weather, it needs to know your location.

But when I’m in my phone and I go to the Weather app it does give me the weather from my location. Shouldn’t it do the same if my phone is locked?
