How do you maintain your memory sharp?

It’s natural for one’s memory to gradually decline as we age. As for me, I think the rate is a bit faster, haha. There are things that I thought I already did, but really didn't. I thought I sent money to my sister through an online transfer. I even sent her a picture, thinking it was finished, but in reality, I forgot to click the “send” button. There are more instances where I forgot important documents or forgot to unplug an appliance like a clothes iron. These affect the way I think, and I get really frustrated.
Can you share with me good practices/habits on how to retain a good memory and improve mental acuity?

if you're overstressed, it happens. i also had an epxerience when i wrote a whatsapp message and forgot to send it. i think reading is good, trying to remember things before searching them, things like that.

Yes, that's true, I've been thinking a lot nowadays and I am really stressed to the point that I cannot sleep.

Sometimes I write down things I would likely forget to keep them in my memory.

Thanks! Sometimes I tend to forget that I need to write or I forget to write the thing/s I should do, huhuhu.

That’s a good question, but one I don’t quite know the answer to. Maybe get in the habit of NOT multitasking, or really upping your concentration on the thing you are doing at the moment. We had trouble with my stepmom remembering to totally turn off the gas stove in my dad’s house. She can’t smell, but one day I walked up to their closed front door, and I could smell the overpowering odor of gas. She did it twice. We had to really stress how dangerous that was, and that everything she did, needed to be done with deliberation.

@Amber Good that nothing bad happened that time! My father is like that, forgetting to turn off the gas after cooking dinner. My partner resolved to check the gas before he sleeps. Yeah, that’s what I usually do - multitask! The more I do multiple things at the same time, the more I tend to forget the next step, and the quality of my work decreases.

This is the big question. My son called me a goldfish sometimes
because I tend to forget things a lot know especially now that I had a general anesthesia months ago.
I was even looking for my reading glasses and I was really upset, my son pointed out it's in my head

@rakski I’m sorry about that. I also had general anaesthesia before, and after that, my forgetfulness increased. I have a goldfish memory too, hahahha

That’s hilarious! I just hope your sister didn’t file a complaint with the bank thinking they withheld her money, when she actually thought you were the one who sent it.
I sometimes forget things too. It's a natural part of getting older. To stay focused and mindful, I try to concentrate on one single task at a time, and I also do crossword puzzles several times a week.

@Shasha Hahahahha Yes! It will be embarrassing on my end. Maybe I should try crossword puzzles so that I will think of other things too, other than the problems I had that are really stressful for me.
