Missing the addictive freedom of mountain biking!

I’ve been feeling incredibly nostalgic lately, staring at my mountain bike sitting idle. I was looking back at the dates and realized the exact last time I rode it was February 25, 2026. It wasn't even some extreme, high-kilometer marathon or crazy trail, just a regular ride. But man, do I miss it.
There is just something about riding a bike that gives you this unmatched sense of freedom and a rush of adrenaline. It’s an addiction in the absolute best way possible. The wind in your face, the quick reflexes, the escape from the daily grind... nothing else quite matches that feeling.
Unfortunately, I had to stop riding after I ended up getting injured from it. That's a whole different story for another day, I guess! But even with the injury, the itch to get back out there on two wheels never really goes away.
I know we have a lot of active people and outdoor lovers here, so I wanted to open up the floor:
Are there any fellow bike riders here? Do you prefer hitting the trails or the open road?
Have you ever had to pause a hobby you are passionate about because of an injury or setback?
What is your ultimate go-to activity when you just want to clear your head and feel completely free?
What songs motivate you to keep pedaling?
Looking forward to reading your stories and replying to your comments. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

I'm currently dealing with a hip injury and can't even walk properly, so there are a whole lot of activities I miss. I understand how you feel. I hope you heal quickly!

@daryl316 I'm trying to take it easy. It helps to get in the pool, so I will try to swim on a more regular basis.

I can't say I'm' much of an outdoors woman. I haven't ridden a bike since we moved to Tennessee about 14 years ago but it was fun for me. As I got older I needed more time away from people so my hobbies are mostly singular. Reading, crafting, gardening, organizing lol. Things of that nature.

@daryl316 My husband and I have been doing it for a while. This year we don't really have one because we've just been so busy and the area is an absolute mess.

Oh no! I can only imagine the trauma it caused you. Hoping you are okay now and grew from that experience.

Yes, I am a cyclist. I ride a Scott Addict 30 gravel bike and a Jamis Durango A1 mountain bike.

@daryl316 - I still get dropped by road bikes all the time, but I like how the gravel bike is basically a light mountain bike.
