Have a buyer but nothing to buy

Since we put the house on the market there has been only one person to see it and I have no idea why. Perhaps the price turned people off from seeing it. Luckily, the one person that saw it wanted it. That’s great news, however, I’ve not found any condo apartments that I’d want to live in, not to mention that the prices are crazy high as are the property taxes. I don’t know what to do. I doubt I will find anything and will have no choice but to put my stuff into storage and move in with my mom, which I really wanted to avoid.

Why are you leaving the house you're in right now?

It’s a three-store house with a full basement and a backyard. Since I am alone I don’t want to live in such a big place. Plus it’s far from transportation. Since I don’t drive I want to be closer to it.

@TheHorse He took all his stuff and left. I don’t really know where. He doesn’t keep in touch with me.

That's a shame but am happy to hear someone wants to buy your place. I'd jump on it and hope you find something in a short while. Be glad you have your mom to move in with. It could be much worse.

@lovebuglena.......maybe having to live with her for a while may make you continue your search and will urge you to keep on the trail for the right place for you. Having to move twice is a bummer.

@celticeagle I hope something turns up this summer. Mom and I have 120 days before we have to close on our house. Seems like plenty of time, but it’s hard to find something that’s good and at the same time not very expensive.

I’m glad I don’t have to worry about being on the street, but I still don’t want to move in with my mom because who knows how long it’ll be until I find a place for myself. Also, my furniture and stuff will have to go into storage. And when I finally do find a place I’ll have to move again. I want to avoid having to move twice.

It’s proving to be difficult. I really don’t want to switch to looking in Brooklyn because I don’t want to live there. It would’ve been easier if I could find a place first and then sell this house but in order to buy the new place this house has to be sold first as we’re using that money to buy the new property.

You can always hold out and see if you get a better offer for the house. There could be many reasons you're not getting a bite, and you just need to give yourself time.

Only one person came to see it. And they gave an offer, which was very good. If we didn’t take it who knows if we’d ever get another buyer.

I wish you the best of luck figuring out what to do. Why not rent an apartment? After my suggestion I saw this, Amazing how even renting is expensive but there is a one bed one bath for $1000 something a month. I suppose were it me it would be a tent in the middle Central Park,

My mom wouldn’t want me to do that, especially since she will be paying for now.

I hope something turns up soon. Having to move in with anyone can be problematic.

It does seem odd you're not getting more eyeballs. It's still a fairly warm housing market. I am sure someone will come along, but there might need to be some adjustments to the price. There's also the possibility of interest rates coming down a bit more soon, so some people might be holding out for lower rates before they get serious. I still think you should consider moving outside of Staten Island. You could take your proceeds and get something very nice for a third of the cost.

We got lucky. The first person is getting the house. We are already under contract. But it is still odd that no one else wanted to see it..

@lovebuglena Glad to hear it at least worked out for you. Are you getting the asking?
