These Sisters are Blowing Up! - The Warning

Every once in a while, something good actually emerges from social media. Like The Warning. They’ve been blowing up, basically, since 2014, when, at the ages of 9-14, the members of The Warning posted a You Tube video of themselves performing a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” From Monteray, Mexico, The Warning are the Villarreal Velez sisters (in birth order:) Daniella (“Dani,” guitars, vocals, piano,) Paulina (“Pau,” drums, vocals, piano,) and Alejandra (“Ale,” bass, vocals, piano.) The girls have evolved from You Tube posters into a full-blown rock and roll power trio. They have released 4 studio albums and 1 live album, and tour all over the place. This band brings a refreshing, infectious energy to rock music that’s just very difficult to ignore. And, the girls actually seem to be enjoying themselves, possibly because they come across as incredibly grounded despite their young ages. And despite racking up award after award. In 2023 alone, Paulina won “Best Upcoming Drummer” in Modern Drummer Magazine’s Reader’s Poll, as well as The Drumeo Awards’ “Best Rock Drummer.” 2025? Rock Sounds named The Warning “Best International Artist.” Glamour Magazine also gave the group their “Sisterhood Award” that year. A fun band, The Warning. Like I said, infectious. It’s fun watching a band have fun. Video link is to their performance at the 2023 MTV Music Awards, of their song “EVOLVE.”

Supposedly that is how the the world is supposed to work, but only seems to happen in music and even then its rare but good for them. They sound good and like they understand the opportunity they have.

They look like they are a really good live band. They have released a US tour, but Denver is not on the schedule yet.

Not too many female bands out there or maybe it is just the music I listen to!

There are, but still not as predominate as male bands. Lots of bands out of Japan these days seem to be all-female.
