These Sisters are Blowing Up! - The Warning

Every once in a while, something good actually emerges from social media. Like The Warning. They’ve been blowing up, basically, since 2014, when, at the ages of 9-14, the members of The Warning posted a You Tube video of themselves performing a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” From Monteray, Mexico, The Warning are the Villarreal Velez sisters (in birth order:) Daniella (“Dani,” guitars, vocals, piano,) Paulina (“Pau,” drums, vocals, piano,) and Alejandra (“Ale,” bass, vocals, piano.) The girls have evolved from You Tube posters into a full-blown rock and roll power trio. They have released 4 studio albums and 1 live album, and tour all over the place. This band brings a refreshing, infectious energy to rock music that’s just very difficult to ignore. And, the girls actually seem to be enjoying themselves, possibly because they come across as incredibly grounded despite their young ages. And despite racking up award after award. In 2023 alone, Paulina won “Best Upcoming Drummer” in Modern Drummer Magazine’s Reader’s Poll, as well as The Drumeo Awards’ “Best Rock Drummer.” 2025? Rock Sounds named The Warning “Best International Artist.” Glamour Magazine also gave the group their “Sisterhood Award” that year. A fun band, The Warning. Like I said, infectious.
