Elk calf rescued by a park worker in Colorado

Meaghan Dondzila was with her mother at the lake shore in Evergreen Lake Monday before sunset on Monday when they saw a elk calf caught in a buoy life struggle. The couple were at Evergreen Lake when Meghan noticed a mother elf and calf in the water. A section of Evergreen Lake is closed to the public where the mother elks take care of their children. The area where the mom elk and her baby were at have buoys to keep paddlers out of the area. Dondzila and her mom then went to a lake house where there was a wedding party going on. A wedding guest named Steve "Gus" Kolbach who is an Evergreen Park and Recreation employee who decided to take action and enter the water to rescue the baby elk had a buoy line wrapped around its leg and take the baby elk safely to shore. The baby elk and its mother were reunited the same evening thanks to the efforts of Gus Kobach. Link is msn.com/en-us/news/us/,,,
