Have you experienced waking up feeling exhausted after sleeping full 8 hours? But other times waking up after 5 or 6 hours feeling totally alert and refreshed? I’m not sure if it has something to do with our body clock or sleeping routine or hormones? I’m happy to hear some scientific explanation to this or real experiences.

I've always preferred being awake at night and sleep during my daytime. It is 4:15 am in my part of the US right now. I have sleep apnea so stop breathing when I sleep if I don't use my CPAP machine.
Untreated sleep apnea makes a person feel exhausted. Using my CPAP machine keeps me breathing and I feel rested and refreshed when I do wake up.

Oh I see. Actually I have an aunt who uses CPAP too. So thanks for your explanation. Sometimes even when I slept for just 6 hours I felt refreshed and there were times I felt exhausted even with full 8 hrs. Where part of the US are you. I have friends in the US too.

@k_krist I live in the lower part of Missouri, almost in the center of the continental US.
You're very welcome. I hope your aunt does as well with her CPAP as I do.
I usually sleep two or three hours in the morning and am awake for several hours and then go back to sleep again in the afternoon.

A lot of people who sleep eight hours and still aren’t refreshed might very well have sleep apnea. I know several people like that. Of course, stress does crazy things to every part of our lives so that definitely could have a weird affect depending on the stress level of the day.
