Jacoby Brissett has been on a hold out waiting for a restructured contract with the Arizona Cardinals. He missed basically all of their OTA's so at this point if he doesn't show up for the mini camp practices, Brissettt was at risk of being fines $107,911 as it is in the NFL collective bargaining agreement. Brissett will be there, as for practicing on the field...we'll see. He started 12 games for the Cardinals last season after Kyler Murray was injured. Brissett is supposed to be starter this year but we'll see. I don't see it changing but it's the NFL and you never know. See if you can make sense of this though, this is where I get flabbergasted is with the money. Right now Brissett has a two year deal, this is his second year where he gets paid $4.88 million with the chance to go up to $5.39 million, only $1.5 million is guaranteed. Now I'm assuming that there's quite a few incentives in there to keep his numbers up however that's a lot of money. Brissett wants his deal reworked as Minshew, signed as a free agent in March as a back up is being paid $5.14 million in guaranteed money for 2026. I can see the upset....I guess however if the money comes with the stipulation that you do certain things on the field just do them. It's what you get paid for as the quarterback. I just can't see arguing over so much money but I guess that's speaking from a place where I've never had that much money or been financially secure in a while. I mean we're talking millions not just a paycheck of a few hundred dollars. Anyway, we'll see where Brissett goes. He's always been a back up, I think the last time he was a starter was for Indianapolis a few years ago. *all info comes from ESPN

Brissett is one of the best backups out there, in my opinion. I’d give him the money unless they want to tank even more than they already will WITH him. They just aren’t a good football team, even with a supposedly good quarterback like Kyler Murray. I’m glad they got rid of Murray as they seemed to somehow improve with Brissett. If, you can call a small amount a real improvement.

It's one of those things that you have to replace each piece until you get the puzzle right. You can't keep ONLY replacing the quarterback though. Yes, Brissett is good but he can't play for the whole team and coach.

I think he cycled through the commanders at one point.

He's been on almost as many teams as Vinaterri was before he retired

I get what you mean about the numbers feeling unreal. For most people, arguing over millions is hard to relate to because it’s so far removed from everyday finances. But in the NFL, players also know careers can end quickly with one injury, so many push hard to maximize guaranteed money while they can.

I think the older players do while the newer ones are just arguing to make the money to spend it. Most of the newer ones run into debt and issues because they take their checks, do one meaningful thing then play. Not saying all but a lot.
