A Weird Painting, Revived - pt 1

Y'all probably know me for my traditional artwork. I tend to work in a representational style --that is, pictures of things that exist, or, in the case of dragons, mermaids, et al, at least things that you can identify.
But there is another category of art, abstract, that is fun to play with, also. You know, the kind of stuff you probably think your 4-year-old could do. Some 4-year-olds have an innate artistic sense, but abstract art is actually pretty hard, as a pursuit. I've grown to appreciate this as I've tried to do my own. Sometimes it comes out okay.
This particular piece is something that I started years ago. I'd had a fully-realized vision of the artwork in my head, which is rare. I started working on it, and the background came out absolutely perfect - just as I'd imagined it.
But then I painted the flowing shape a the top and started massing in the shapes on each side, and oo, I did NOT like it. It was lopsided and the color of the ribbonlike bit was wrong -- it looked like arteries! Ewww. Anyway, I was unsure where to go with it and put it to the side, where it sat, unfinished.
That's the end of part 1. Please enjoy my weird, bad, not-at-all-what-I-wanted painting.

As they say, we're our own worst critics. Hopefully you got something you liked out of it.

I don’t usually like abstract art but I could live with this, I think because it’s somewhat symmetrical. Sometimes it’s good to have no idea about a subject!

I'm not at all arty.
But I don't think it's weird or bad.
It is what it is, and if I had done it I would be quite pleased
