I';ve been listening to reports for days. Huge ticket prices, denial of VISAs to the United States, on and on, turning the most important international sporting event into a political circus.
FIFA is not innocent.
It could have moved all events with Iran to Canada or Mexico, it didn't. It could have stepped up and protested the huge cost of tickets. It didn't. The denial of entrance to a Somali referee should have caused some reaction. It didn't.
I have been addicted to Football for years, now, I have a feeling that matches in the US are going to be unpleasant to put it mildly.

The World Cup is already a fiasco.
On every level
Today, with the denial of entry to the USA of the Referee from Somalia was the last straw. He had the necessary documents, he is not a criminal.
FIFA are too blame.
They should have laid out clear criteria to be adhered to before America even bidded to host this tournament
Every football fan on the planet knew this World Cup would be a fiasco.
Scotland haven't qualified since 1998
I knew before we qualified that if we did
I won't be watching.

@jaylar
And now they have got petty and denied Iran fans the right to buy tickets
And they harassed them to move from Tuscon to Canada for a training base
And also denied 15 Iranian back room staff entry to America
This event should never have been given to America
No sporting event of a global scale should be given to America to host again
But all this was predicted many many tears ago when it was announced America would host the 2026 World Cup
Politics should be kept out of Sport

@Ineeddentures I agree with you. I did expect some confusion, but not this... not in every corner and with this rabidity to destroy the WC

Never liked the idea of multiple countries hosting the World Cup.
Still hoping for great games though. No doubt, these will affect the tournament in one way or another.

@jaylar not much to do but to wait.
Not sure if you mentioned it before, but who are you cheering for?

@allen0187 I used to be Brasil, until butterkrotches...Nehmar. Then I went to France. Right now... I'm sort of unconnected. Which is your team?

I can understand why you feel frustrated. For many people, football is supposed to be one of those rare things that brings people together across borders, and it is disappointing when politics, visas, costs, and controversies start overshadowing the sport itself.

This will sure affect the competition. Why are people that ought to take part in the world cup denied visa..it doesn't make any sense
