As a filipino , I cant help but to feel sad for what happened with my fellow Filipinos in Mindanao. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the region at the start of the school year. Every student and teachers were outside participating in the flag ceremony before the classes start when sudden shaking was felt. Good thing little students were assisted by their respective teachers , and I would like to commend all teachers for not leaving their students behind and yet instructing all on what to do during the earthquake. If you happen to watch the videos on the news you can hear the teachers shouting and saying stay calm! Dock and cover your heads! Thats the drill they teach the students and now they are doing it. I have earthquake trauma because when I was still a child about 7 to 9 years old we experienced a volcano erupting and there were earthquakes and aftershocks , what I did was I jump many times so that I wont feel the shake . As of now our government 8s doing the best they can for rescue, rehabilitation in the said region. Fellow lotters have you encountered a strong earthquake in your place? What did you do? Hope no more aftershocks in Mindanao .

This is not good news what happened. I know it's bad and my heart goes out to all who were involved or harmed etc I have never seen an earth quake in Scotland during my life. Not sure but I don't think we have ever had a proper earthquake

@Ineeddentures Yes, its really sad seeing my fellow filipinos suffer from the earthquake. I have experienced strong earthquakes when I was still young thats why Im traumatized .I guess the reason our country is earthquake prone is because of its positioning , I mean the Philippines is near or is situated in the Pacific ring of fire where earthquakes happen.

I will definitely pray for the people. The earthquakes I have experienced have been small in comparison to the one you’re talking about.

@rakski Even though some were prepared its really scary , you will forget what to do if you are in the situation.

I really feel that that this happened..I'm glad the teachers and students are alive. We don't experience earthquakes in Nigeria..I feel terrible when I hear that it's happening in other countries

@Wrexxo Experiencing earthquakes is really scary . It will happen in the most unexpected time and sad part is that you cant plan actions ahead of time unlike some other unfotunate event.

I only experienced a minor earthquake. I haven't even felt the quakes I only knew that there's an earthquake happened in the South Area after receiving alerts in our phone. It's really saddening what happened but thankful when that happened mostly students are outside because some school is having flag ceremony. Praying for no aftershocks and added deaths on the lists.

@Jehanne Its scary and I dont want to feel that again. Yes good thing is that students were all outside having a flag ceremony because its the first day of classes for this school year. If you noticed all teachers knew what to do to calm their students good thing there were earthquake drills before so now they are prepared.
