I do like pineapple.
My Mom has fresh pineapples sometimes but I can never eat a whole one on my own …..
I do prefer tinned pineapple though ….
Maybe it’s a throw back to my childhood …..this is probably going to age me …. You all know how old I am anyway ….,,but when I was young every party had cheese and pineapple on sticks.
This is still….to this day …..one of my favourite things.
Anyway, I asked The Mister for tinned pineapple a while ago and I thought I had eaten it all …..
No ….
I just found a tin ….
Yay …..
I’m just off to cube some cheese …..
That’s my supper sorted …..
Is cheese and pineapple something you would eat ?

Years ago people would cover a potato with silver foil and place a cube of cheese and a piece of pineapple on a cocktail stick. This was then stuck in the covered potato …..to look like a hedgehog !
Oh the fun we had in the 70’s ……x

@Traceyjayne That's because pineapple (and papaya) contains a large amount of an enzyme called papain, which is actually eating away at your tongue
That's why pineapple works as a meat tenderiser.

@Traceyjayne Yes, I'm sure that's the case. Many of our original settlers came from the UK.

I think the UK and Australia have more in common than the UK and America …..

@Traceyjayne Have you ever read 'Three Men in a Boat'? I can't think about a tin of pineapple without bringing that scene to mind.

Yes, I always put the remaining fruit into a dish ….not that it lasts long once the tin is opened …

@Fleura I have read it , many years ago and seen tv adaptations ….written by Jerome K Jerome who came from Walsall …..where I live.
The situation wouldn’t happen today ….the tins have those ring pull things on them !

I do remember eating pineapples when I was younger. These days due to high prices, my relatives and myself do not eat pineapples.

I don't know if I would like that combination. I do like a pineapple glaze on top of cheesecake.

Pineapple is delicious even if I don’t have it much.
