Waiting out the storm/it's officially started

The storm has officially started. I can hear the wind outside. I haven't seen any lightning yet or heard any thunder, and I can't tell if it's raining, but the wind has gotten pretty bad. I've been keeping an eye on FB for the weather. I don't mind storms, but I still want to make sure I'm awake in case we do get any tornadoes. I also don't want to be startled awake if we lose power. We have a generator, but my husband would have to set it up. It's far too hot not to be able to run an AC. Hopefully, we'll keep power.
I have always loved rain and storms, but I also don't like being taken by surprise if the power goes out or if we have to move our location to a safer area. My husband and son will probably sleep through most of the storm. I always used to, but I also had family that would wake me and have me move if it were bad. Now I'm the one staying awake to keep my family safe. I never appreciated my parents enough for this before. I definitely do now. Here's to hoping this storm passes and we keep our power.

@MarieCoyle I just had something pop up saying there will be over an inch of rain on Wednesday or Thursday. We got a bunch of rain today, and we were supposed to possibly have some bad storms, but thankfully, all we got was some rain and wind.

That's what we do to be prepared for the worst
we take afternoon naps when we know a storm
is coming our way so we don't get caught off guard.

@sissy15 Yea we learned to take naps early
enough to be awake when it hits so were not
startled awake & trying to get some place safe.

@2ndchances24 I always let the boys sleep, and I'll usually sleep after the storm blows over if I can. I think I managed to fall asleep at 6 AM when the storms were finally done, and I slept until about 1 PM.
