The guy that took a look at the deck said that the reason the boards are so spongy is because the joists are too far apart. Joists need to be added all around the deck. I have a very large wrap-around deck. I think it will be very expensive. We've been getting some really good thunderstorms in the middle of the night; so there will be no painting this week. Breakfast - PB&J sandwich Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Fish sandwich, coleslaw, potato wedges, applesauce Dessert/Snack - Brownie Dinner - Turkey/cheese sandwich, chips, yogurt What did you eat yesterday? Do you use your deck enough to justify spending the money for the rebuilding of it? You could change the size to something smaller if it isn't used alot. Yesterday was order in night, and it was pizza.

No, but the deck is a good selling point for the house. Either way, add joists or make a smaller deck is going to be expensive.

@LindaOHio I would think that a smaller deck, done properly will cost less as it will have less square footage and require less lumber.

We had an 80% chance of storms last night but we just got the light show and the noise. Once it thundered right over our house and made the pictures on the wall rattle in my bedroom. I baked another pork loin roast, potatoes, onions and Bell peppers yesterday with garlic and spices. It's really good! We have 3/4 of the pork loin left and over half of the veggies if you feel like coming over for breakfast/lunch/dinner today. (I will fix different meals for each and only serve you pork loin for one meal. ) I ate a roast beef and cheddar cheese sandwich on potato bread with a little mayo for lunch yesterday. I'm sure I ate breakfast but couldn't tell you what that was. The older neighbor mowed our yard and weedeated around the house. The yard looks good.

Yes. The night before last the thunder shook the house. It always amazes me. I would love to come over for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
