After hubby's wallet was lost, we had to cancel the credit card that was in his wallet. We opened a new credit card at a different bank. It came with a bonus award if you spent a certain amount of money within the first 90 days, they would give you a certain number of reward points on your card that converts to money to use to pay toward your credit card bill. Basically it's a cash reward. The reward is substantial - $750.00. We pay off our credit card balance every month. I'm using my new credit card to pay for everything I can think of (restaurants, groceries, doctor bills, insurance payment, etc) so that I make sure that I get that $750.00 bonus. That's a LOT of money.
