James Bond has a birth date of November 11, 1920. That would make him over 100. But he is usually portrayed as being in his mid 30s on the screen. Ian Fleming started writing about the character in 1952. The first novel was published in 1953 and had been a way to distract himself from wedding anxiety. An American ornithologist is where he got the name of the character. The missing 00s – 002, 003, 004 and 009 are rather interesting. Most were killed in different movies. The supposedly dead 006 returned as the villain in "Goldeneye" before being disposed of. The 001 and 005 have never been mentioned, but the unnamed 008 is referred to at various points as Bond’s replacement in the event of his death or being removed from a mission for insubordination. There were several spies that Fleming based his character on. One was John Dee. Dee would sign his letters to Queen Elizabeth I with a ‘007’ glyph to signify that they were for her eyes only. Pierce Brosnan was the deadliest Bond. In "Goldeneye" alone he ended 47 lives. In contrast, Roger Moore only does away with one person in The Man with the Golden Gun, the film with the lowest Bond kill-count. Interesting, huh? Though Roger Moore appeared in 7 of the bond films he actually suffers from hoplophobia – fear of firearms. President JFK named "From Russia, With Love" as his favorite novel in a 1962 interview. He was supposedly the one responsible for Bond's success in America. The film of the same name was the next film made and the last one JFK ever saw. That's all for now.

My Dad used to like watching the Bond films. I could never understand why he was idolised - I mean playing with high-tech weapons, driving fancy cars and seducing lots of people, I could do that!
