I took a small parcel to the main post office in town this morning . To be honest I don’t really like using that post office as I have always had a feeling that they overcharge on the postage. Anyway I asked how much, second class, and was told over £4. I knew it was no way that amount so I brought the parcel back home. This afternoon I popped to our local post office….same parcel …. Guess how much ….. Go on …..guess ….. £1.90 Bit of a difference there, don’t you think ! I don’t know how they get away with it …..

That’s not illegal over there? They can’t do that here. I don’t know how you report that though.

Postage prices should be standard from any post office. The only thing I can think of is that they quote the price for a different service.

@Fleura it has happened several times to me now …..I am very clear in my instructions and have questioned prices and repeated myself several times ….

That certainly sounds crazy that one post office can charge a different price than another one. Postage is weighed so it should all be the same??

I was telling my Mom about it…..although everything is weighed no weight or price shows up on the machine that the customer can see ……I think by law we should be able to see these things ….

That's very odd, surely the price is standard everywhere? Do they just automatically quote the price for the express tracked delivery instead of plain old second class, or something like that?

@Traceyjayne Weigh and measure it at home and look up the price. Then go there and say you want to send it by whatever service and it should cost £x amount and see what they say.

I have no idea what they do. I am very clear about how I want to send it. I really think on the weighing scales there should be the weight and postage charges clearly visible to the customer ….
