Howdy from Nashvegas. Trashville. Muzak City USA. But hey, I’m like Grand Funk Railroad, I’m getting closer to my home.
I’m also getting closer to the top ten as I run through these songs that mention the Beatles. I’m hoping @teamfreak16 doesn’t let me down today.
Here’s today’s song.
Ready Steady Go - Generation X
Before you say “never heard of them,” you have heard of their lead singer and primary songwriter: William Broad. Better known as Billy Idol. Yes, Billy Idol had a career before his eyes without a face saw a white wedding.
A lot of Generation X, to me, sounded like the British version of the Ramones. I think they definitely owed more to the Ramones than to the Clash. You can hear the fun in this song about love and rock and roll from their first album.
Ready Steady Go
Written by Billy Idol and Tony James
Recorded by Generation X
From Generation X, 1978
BEATLE REFERENCE LYRICS:

Gen X. Now we're talking! (The Sisters of Mercy album that Tony James played on, Vision Thing, was fantastic!)

You never know what’s going to show up on my “groove machine.”

Don’t you have a parking space to fit your little car into?
