This is the annual event that honors impactful Asian Pacific figures and 3 weeks ago, the Gold Legend Award (that's the name of the category, i think) was given to Jet Li.
Since Jackie Chan movies are on telly here and i have a feeling that there is more buzz about Jackie Chan, i really liked that someone else from martial arts movies was mentioned also, i feel Jet Li wasn't that active in recent years so, this made me interested.
Before this award, i think, Jet Li, along with his daugters, published a book about his life and i think he's active on youtube now too (not promoting him or youtube platform).
Not sure about you but between Chan and Li, Li was more serious star to me, along with his movies but both are legends, of course.
I've seen Jet Li for the first time in Hollywood movies like Lethal Weapon 4, Romeo Must Die, with a lovely Aaliyah. Try Again video from that movie, i played it a thousand times. Then, The One, Unleashed, Kiss of the Dragon. He was a mystery to me so, being intrigued, i also watched his Chinese Mandarin movies like Hero, which won me over and the Sorcerer and the White Snake. I watched his other work in Chinese but i honestly don't remember them well and these 2 are dear to me.
Unlike Chan, Li is born in China, Beijing and prepared himself from the young age for wushu, martial arts and he travelled and promoted it and saw his career in this but, due to knee injury and being only 18, his dream faded away but luckily acting came to his life.
There are some scandals of him renouncing his Chinese and American citizenship; he is a citizen of Singapore since 2009 till now and something about his charity organisation that was involved with embezzlement but he cleared the suspicions.
I know he's a devoted Buddhist and i didn't know that during tsunami at the Maldives, in 2004, he almost died.
All in all, i am glad he is doing his own thing and he's in good health though, there were stories he's not doing too well.
What do you think about him or his movies?

it's a simple one but seems strong
have you watched martial arts or kung fu movies before or maybe with other actors?

@Shivram59 if he lived more, we would have a lot of fun watching his movies.

I loved him in Lethal Weapon 4. I don’t like Jackie Chan at all although his movies are good. Chan said some awful things about America, and also disowned his gay daughter. Believe what you want about being gay, but hate is uncalled for in my view.

i like him too there and was very intrigued with his character. he was malicious and i liked seeing him in a villain role. about america, really? well, rush hour was good, shanghai noon as well and others. o, i also remember those news and it made me uncomfortable. chan represent himself as a good uncle or something and then acts like this, not cool. maybe jet li is faking it but seeing a couple of interviews with his daughters, i feel the love and respect. and this tsunami, he actually saved one of his daugters. i mean, what a man.
