Tour de France season is near, just a couple of weeks before the men start, the women’s edition starts Aug 1st. I’ve been highlighting some cyclists I dig watching, American men, and pro women. And while I’ve seen no official squads, these ladies have a habit of being on the starting line each year. Today, we focus on Polish National Champion Katarzyna “Kasia” Niewiadoma-Phinney. Riding for the powerhouse Canyon//SRAM team, Niewiadoma is a former World Gravel Champion (2023) who has won 18 professional races in her career. Most notably, Kasia was the 2024 Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift champion; notable wins also inlude the Amstel Gold Race (2019) and La Fleche Wallone in 2024. She won the Mountains Classification (Polka Dot Jersey - Best Climber) in the 2023 Tour de France, and the Best Young Rider (under 26 yrs) classification at both the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Giro d’ Italia. (She has stated she will not be defending her Polish National Champion title this year, so that distinction is up for grabs if you happen to be a female Polish cyclist…) And as if she weren’t already cool enough, Kasia is married to former American pro cyclist Taylor Phinney, son of American Cycling legends Connie Carpenter-Phinney and Davis Phinney. Go Kasia! Link is a short of Niewiadoma winning the 2024 La Fleche Wallone:

That was an exciting finish. It's a shame there has to be losers after so much effort.

I'm glad I never wanted to race. Hours of effort for maybe a podium spot at best sometimes.
