Fake persona

My friend and I were talking about a friend of a friend. We’re really shocked and felt sad about what has happened to her. She’s been chatting with a guy for a year and had an online relationship. Well I don’t judge of whatever kind of setup they had. What concerns me is the guy was using a fake persona and had been chatting with multiple women while they’re in a relationship. Little did she know that this guy had been doing that thing for long time and just later on she found it out through a woman who texted her and said things about this guy that he was also talking to her. She confronted him and he denied it. But what really scared her was that not only that he has been talking to other women but he was using a fake persona to each one of them… She discovered it and confronted him and he blocked her. Like for a year she fell in love with someone else’s identity.

So she was catfished. They had a whole TV series about it. They’d find the person behind the profile, and 95% of the profiles were fake, and they’d confront the real person. In some cases, these people had given thousands of dollars to the fake profile.

That's the risk you run when you start any kind of online relationship. Behind the keyboard you can be whomever you want.

Catfishing is big money for some people. I hope the friend of a friend didn't give him very much money.
I like to think people I interact with are genuine but you really never know for sure.

I think this may happen more than you might think
I wonder if this woman gave this fake guy any money
